Juneteenth: The Layers
It’s Juneteenth, y’all!
Today is the day we honor that enslaved peoples in the United States were FINALLY informed that their inherent freedom was recognized in the eyes of the law (2.5 years after the fact).
At best, we can say today is layered as we remember the sacrifices made by our peoples. Peoples who chose survival, community care, land acknowledgement & tending, cultivating spirituality, & to keep their culture and ancestry alive within them as they navigated a very different & oppressive world—Black, Indigenous, People of Color, queer folx, gender expansive folx, peoples living with chronic pain, illnesses, & disabilities, folx living from their hearts and wanting more for themselves & the world…
It’s Our Day.
An Invocation - A Prayer for Us All—
We deserve access to open spaces that are calming to our nervous systems.
We deserve affordable housing that is decorated to our hearts content & reflective of our personalities.
We deserve to be in community with people that are healthy, kind, loving, & harmonize with our energy.
We deserve to be in chosen family systems that lift us up, listen to us, and hold us down when things get tough.
We deserve to choose loves that reflect to us our wholeness.
We deserve to adorn our bodies in any way we deem fit and feel just as confident at home naked as we do walking around with others perceiving us.
We deserve to find multiple reasons to smile, laugh, & celebrate.
We deserve to have abundant access to resources for ourselves and anyone with whom we choose to share.
We deserve autonomy, choice, & freedom.
We deserve peace, harmony, & respect to be the default in our interactions & in our World.
We deserve so much more.
We Deserve a Whole Ass Life.

It’s Juneteenth, it’s Pride Month, Summer Solstice is tomorrow, and our Capricorn Full Moon is Friday.
The energy this week is ripe with celebration, acknowledgement, and reflection of how far you’ve come & with all this Cancerian Energy — (the Sun, Venus, & Mercury are all moving into Cancer this week)—we’re also thinking of past versions of ourselves, past places that we’ve lived, as well as our living & transitioned ancestors.
We are, after all, an extension of Them. They’re living through Us. And we are the Embodiment of their Wildest Dreams in how Freely we can live today & be ourselves.
While it may take folx in positions of “power*” (*exploitative positions) much longer than us to recognize our inherent worth, value, and right to Life. Today finally being a nationally recognized holiday and day of rest is a hard-won, much anticipated, mirroring of Juneteenth centuries ago…
This has been a recognized holiday for a long-ass time in the communities that cared to celebrate. Everyone else is just catching up to what we already Know.
We’re Free & we always have been…no matter what the circumstances look like. No matter what they say about us—we’ve always been Free.
So Live, today. And the day after today. In spite of, because of, & in coexistence with their Ignorance.
Now in case you’re not feeling very celebrant (because it is late Gemini/early Cancer season & the Feels may be high or turbulent), know that there is a throne on an ancestral parade float with your name on it. And if you choose to sit there you can do so in any emotional, energetic, or mental state you find yourself in.
Celebrate & cry,
Celebrate & laugh,
Celebrate & take a nap,
Celebrate & be pissed…
As always, there’s a lot going on. And we’d be remiss to attempt to simplify via downplaying what our bodies and bones call so complex.
But we are capable of handling complexity.
So, however you Be today, Be it fully.
